James A. Estergard
July 16, 1930 — December 4, 2017
James Arnold Estergard, 87, of Crystal Lake, passed on Monday, December 4, 2017. Jim was born July 16, 1930 to Arnold and Ruth (Reimer) Estergard.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anthea; daughter, Dawn Estergard; sons, James Arnold Estergard II, and Thomas Estergard; and sister, Lois Cardinal of Littleton, CO. Jim is also survived by his grandchildren, Eirenne Dangle, Daniel Estergard, Jonothan Estergard, Albert Estergard, Michael Estergard; and great grandchildren, Von and Henry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Paul Estergard.
Jim was a graduate of Elgin High School, Illinois State University, and played on their winning football team. He was employed as Vice President of Boncosky Oil of Elgin, and was the owner of both the Downtown Crystal Lake Standard Oil Station and the Gamble and Schwinn Bicycle Store.
Jim was a longtime member of the Enterprise Club, an avid fisherman, loved to golf, travel, tinker and fix things at home, play cards with his buddies, and enjoy time with his family. When friends or acquaintances had challenges or difficulties, Jim was always available to help. He loved to joke and to make people laugh.
Services will be private for family only.
