James E. Fier, Sr., 65, passed away on January 13, 2021 at his home in Cary, Illinois. The son of Barbara and Edward Fier, he grew up in Lansing and Mundelein, Illinois. Jim served as a Waukegan police officer before settling into a career in mortgage loan underwriting.
Jim met his wife, Diane Louise DiPrima, while working together in 1989 and married her on December 4, 1993 in Palatine, Illinois. They enjoyed twenty-seven wonderful years together as husband and wife, experiencing the joys and challenges of raising a family in Roselle and Cary, Illinois. They had three children, Cassandra Santos, Alicia Fier and James Fier, Jr.
Jim’s love of muscle cars, motorcycles, hunting and fishing was shared with his friends and family. Many laughs were had over his hunting and fishing adventures and stories of “the ones that got away”. Jim and Diane loved to travel and together enjoyed spectacular trips to Canada, Alaska and Hawaii, and found a true paradise in Maui which they visited numerous times with family and friends.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Diane; mother, Barbara; children, Cassandra, Alicia, and James Jr. and his wife, Michelle; sister, Karen Fier; brother, Michael and his wife, Shirley; in-laws, Carol DiPrima and Jan McCabe, Joan Gambrell, and David DiPrima and his wife, Elizabeth; and his twelve grandchildren, including the youngest, Emma and Michael James.
