James J. Kuczora, 84, of Lake Zurich, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully with his wife of 61 years, Karen and daughter, Nancy by his side on February 19, 2021. He was born on March 23, 1936 in Chicago to Joseph and Mary Kuczora.
James was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. On October 3, 1959 he was united in marriage to Karen in Chicago, where they resided and raised their family. James was the assistant chief operating engineer for the City of Chicago Water Department and retired after 27 years. After retirement, James and Karen settled in Lake Zurich. He was a long-time parishioner and Eucharistic minister at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Zurich. He remained a die-hard Chicago White Sox fan, was an avid golfer and fisherman. Above all, he enjoyed being with his family and friends.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Gregory (Nancy) Kuczora, Terri (David) Salerno, Nancy (Ronald) Graham; grandchildren, Kristi and Kandi Kuczora, James (Kristin), Michael and Katie Salerno, Daniel, Holly and William Zummo; great-grandchildren, Vincent, Addison and Brooklyn; his sister, Evelyn (Arthur) Kent; and by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Ruth, Laverne, Ken, Joseph and John.
Visitation, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 AM until prayers at 10 AM before processing to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047 for Mass at 10:30 AM. Military Honors to follow. Interment will be private.
