Janice E. (Vrabel) Dobbs

Janice Elaine Dobbs (nee Vrabel) was born February 28th 1958, the daughter of the late Joseph Vrabel and Rose (Velich) Vrabel in Pittsburgh, PA. She passed away peacefully at 1:49 PM Saturday the 30th of November 2019 in Barrington, IL surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Jim Dobbs; three loving children, James Dobbs, Jordan (Dobbs) Fiedler, and Jack Dobbs; her deeply cherished granddaughter, Blythe Dobbs; her loving mother, Rosemary Vrabel; her siblings, Michelle (Tom) Murphy, Scott (Deana) Vrabel, Brian (Lisa) Vrabel, and Joe (Julie) Vrabel; her loving in-laws, Nancy and Walter Dobbs; as well as many special and loved nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Jan was so many things to so many people: daughter, sister, mother, amazing aunt, fantastic grandmother, wife and soulmate to Jim, mentor, friend, boater, bookkeeper, and philanthropist; but first and foremost she was always a kind, caring, and compassionate woman full of love.

She was the bookkeeper for her husband’s businesses, as well as assisting in the management and running of their companies. Janice loved to boat and travel. She would spend 2-3 months every summer boating with her husband and children, and recently spent 4-6 months a year on their boat with her husband completing The Great Loop. She has traveled the world with her husband Jim as well as with her children and granddaughter. She had a generous and giving spirit, whether it was to give a hug or an open ear to someone who needed it, build wells in Haiti and Africa, build a school in Haiti, or donate to many other causes.

We will all cherish our memories of her beautiful soul.

A visitation for Janice will be held on Wednesday, December 4th, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL. A second visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5th, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church 2515 W Palatine Rd, Inverness, IL from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at 10:30 am. Burial will take place at Transfiguration Catholic Cemetery, IL-176, Wauconda, IL on Friday, December 6th at 11:00 am.
