Jeanne Marie Garms

Jeanne M. Garms, eternally 36 yrs ended her 14 year courageous battle with melanoma peacefully surrounded by family and friends on July 8, 2017.  She was the beloved wife of 33 years to Dan.  Loving mother to Gabe, Matt (Jeana) and Elliott (Raissa).  Devoted daughter to Marilyn Blocker. Loyal sister to John Blocker, Barbara (Robert) Newman, Jim (Marsha) Blocker, Janet (Gary) Leeper, Liz (Dave) Bright, Jenny (Todd) Rucinski and Josh (Sara) Blocker.  Adoring Grandmother to Weston and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her late husband Dino Burns and father John Blocker.

Jeanne was born in Dubuque, IA and her adventurous spirit lead her to live for a short time in CA and CO before settling in Barrington to raise her three devilishly handsome boys.  She was a founding member and dedicated employee for 29 years of Select Staffing where she helped thousands of people finds jobs. Jeanne was always one to help and volunteer for school, church and work functions and never missed her family's major events - dance and piano recitals, sports games, baptisms, communions, graduations, weddings etc.  She was truly selfless and felt joy in supporting others.  She loved to meet new people and her door was always open 24/7. She believed in listening more than talking and those fortunate enough to have spent time with her always walked away with more than when they arrived.  A good laugh, good music, dancing and plenty of lipstick were a must. Jeanne left a mark of lipstick on everyone’s heart that will never wear off.  Her spirit will live forever in those who knew her.

Services will be held at 11 AM on July 15 in the Chapel at Willow Creek Community Church, 67 Algonquin Road, South Barrington, with a visitation 1 hr. prior to service and a celebration of her life will follow after the service.
