Jerry A. Cristy

Jerry Allen Cristy, of Crystal Lake, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at the age of 86.

He was born November 30, 1934 in Woodstock, the son of the late Kenneth Earl and Clara Marie (nee Nelson) Cristy.

Jerry graduated from McHenry High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army in 1957 for two years. On July 26, 1958 he married Mary Lou Pfeiffer. They recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary.

Jerry worked as a heavy equipment operator for Meyer Material for over 25 years. He was a proud member of Union Local 150. After retiring, Jerry and Mary Lou traveled to all 50 states in their Airstream trailer. They were members of the Wally Byan Caravan Club and made memories and new friends along the way.

You could often find Jerry cheering on his family as they participated in competitive sports. He also enjoyed board games and playing cards with his grandchildren, puzzle making and crossword puzzles.

Jerry was the loving husband of Mary Lou; beloved dad of Leeann (Steve) Slack and Sandra (Kevin) Kinahan; cherished grandpa of Kyle, Curtis, Colin (Sarah) and Christopher Slack, Cristy and Patrick Kinahan; great grandpa of Gabriel Slack; and loving brother of William (Doris) Cristy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Kenneth Jr. and Donald Cristy; sister, Bobette Fossum; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Cristy and Nancy Fjellstedt.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 6, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
