Joan B. Amedeo

Joan B. Amedeo, long-time resident of Deerfield, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2021 at the age of 90. She was born on March 16, 1931 in Chicago to the late Thomas and Marie Collins.

She was united in marriage on June 9, 1951 in Chicago to Joe Amedeo; this happy union blessed them with 1 daughter and 2 sons. They moved to the suburbs of Deerfield shortly after marriage, where they raised their family. They celebrated 69 beautiful years of marriage until his passing in September 2020. Joan enjoyed crossword puzzles, card games – especially Solitaire, and rooting for the Cubs.

Joan will be deeply missed by her loving children, Nancy (Scot) Colby of Elk Grove Village; Joe (Trini) Amedeo of Gilbert, AZ; Craig (the late Sue) Amedeo of Lake Zurich; grandchildren, Ryan and Jordan Colby and Allison Amedeo; her sisters, Doddie (the late Jack) Smothers and Jackie (the late Tom) Fleming; by her loving neighbors of 30 years, The Fisher Family; and by many cherished nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and by her siblings.

Memorial visitation will be Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 11 AM until 3 PM, with a Celebration of Life service to follow at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Interment will be private.
