Joan Claris (Lein) Beyer, 91, passed away on January 30, 2018 at Bickford Assisted Living Facility in Crystal Lake where she resided since September 2016.  Joan previously lived in Oakwood Hills, IL, Fulton, MS, Des Plaines, IL, and Lyons, IL.

Joan was the daughter of John and Clara (Irmen) Lein of Berwyn, IL. Joan was admired for her devotion to her loving husband of 59 years, to their four daughters, and to seven grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her daughter Darlene Bremer of Oakwood Hills, IL, daughter Annette (Pat) Sullivan of Greenville, SC, daughter Joan (Mark) Leigh of Morris, IL, daughter Sandra Beyer of Pensacola, FL, sister Roberta Camphouse, sister Merle (Jack) Shea, sister-in-law Helen Beyer, brother-in-law Dale (Carol) Beyer, seven grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband Wayne Beyer, sister Winnie (Abby) Rudman, sister Mildred Senser, brother Wallace Lein, brother-in-law William Camphouse, brother-in-law Charles Beyer, sister-in-law Geraldine (Bill) Stastny, and brother-in-law Donald (Shirley) Beyer.

Joan and her husband Wayne were a creative couple designing and making furniture and home improvements. She was a great organizer for the family’s yearly camping and boating trips.  She enjoyed traveling coast to coast visiting family.

Joan was a skilled seamstress and taught all four daughters the art of designing, constructing, and altering all kinds of garments from swimsuits to wedding dresses.  She was a recycler before it became fashionable and came up with many ingenious re-uses. She also was a repairer of anything needing fixing.

Joan was a listening ear to the forlorn children in the neighborhood and a nurse to a myriad of house pets.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 11 at Cary United Methodist Church, 500 First Street, Cary, IL.
