John R. Schultz

July 27, 1936 — April 21, 2021

Davenport, Barrington

John “Jack” Schultz, aged 84, of Barrington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.

Beloved as Dad and Papa to family, he was also known by many in the Buffalo Grove area as Mr. Palmer, as he owned the local Palmer Video Store.  Prior to his video store days, Jack worked at Motorola, Arthur Andersen, Hillman’s, National Tea, Silvestri and Leon Corral.

Outside of work, one could find Jack at the local bowling alley (where he scored several 300 games), Arlington Park or Wrigley Field.  We are all very glad the Cubs got it together in 2016 for him to see the team win the World Series.

Jack always said he lived a good life and that he was ready for the next phase.  He now goes on to join his wife Carole, his son John, nicknamed Jackie, and his parents John and Emily.

Jack is survived by his two daughters, Donna and Dana, his granddaughter Kristin and their spouses Tim, Christopher and Ricky (respectively).  He is also survived by his sister Carol Lee Hunt, her husband Bill and their son Billy.

Per Jack’s request, there will not be any official funeral services.  If you wish to honor his memory, his family asks that you donate to your local Veteran’s group or Hospice Care in his name, as those were two places he supported.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Arboria of Long Grove, Good Shepard Hospital, A Place for Mom, and the other wonderful outside caregivers for their support and care during Jack’s final year.  Jack will truly be missed.
