Justin Benjamin

May 23, 2001 ~ September 7, 2023 (age 22) 22 Years Old

Obituary

Justin John Benjamin, age 22, passed away peacefully in his family home on Thursday, September 7th, 2023. A devoted and loving son to Miriam & Joseph Benjamin Susai, and a loving younger brother to Augustine, Justin lived a life full of laughter and adventure. Justin’s innate curiosity and desire to try new things took him around the world - from his ancestral home in India, to Southern California, as a USC Trojan, and even to a farm in Japan.

Justin had a calling to be compassionate and generous to the unhoused and dedicated his studies to environmental sciences, hoping to make a positive impact on our planet. He was looking forward to moving to Seattle this fall to start working as a consultant at Bain & Co. He loved animals of all kinds from tree shrews he studied & cared for in his college lab to turtles crossing the road by his home, and was known for surprising his parents with unexpected houseguests (of the animal variety). Justin had a passion for music, playing the piano and viola with captivating expression, and shared his gift everywhere from local senior centers to an orchestral tour in Austria.

Justin will be most remembered for helping those in need and treating others with kindness, dignity, and respect. He was wise beyond his years, a compassionate listener, a masterful comedian, and had a smile that could brighten every room and melt any heart. He will be greatly missed by those around him, especially his family and friends. Justin is survived by his maternal grandfather, his parents, his brother, his dog (Bolt), his cat (Cassie), and his large extended family.

Visitation will be held at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 South Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich, IL 60047 on Tuesday, September 12th from 4-8 pm. There will be a funeral Mass at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St, Barrington, IL 60010 on Wednesday, September 13th at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
