Kendall D. White, Jr.

Kendall D. White, Jr., 95, of Barrington passed away at home on Thursday, February 18, 2021. He was born in Elgin, IL on August 29, 1925 to Kendall and Ruth White.

He will be missed dearly by his loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Donna (Schoerke); children: Kathleen Beening (Robert deceased); Susan (Greg) Nettleton; Donald (Cindy) White; Sharon (Ed) Murphy; and Nancy (Mark) Stazy; stepchildren: Doug (Barb) Schoerke and Meg Schoerke; 12 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara White and was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia F. White; his daughters, Carol and Judy; and brother, Gordon White.

Kendall was a WWII veteran serving in the military  from July 1943 – July 1946.  He started in the Naval Reserve at Northwestern University; after graduation received his commission as Ensign in Chicago and was sent to Naval Gunnery School in Anacostia, Washington, D.C.; and ended his military career serving on the USS Springfield in San Pedro, CA.  He was the recipient of the Victory Ribbon WWII and American Theater Ribbon.

After his honorable discharge, Kendall worked as a Chemical Engineer at USG for 40 years.   He was a devoted Catholic and served his community through his work as a Boy Scout Leader, Catechist teacher, United Way Volunteer, and member of the Knights of Columbus.   Kendall was an avid puzzle solver and Words with Friends fanatic.  He also enjoyed bird watching, golfing, and traveling.

Kendall (aka Ram) was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Donna (aka Lamb) and the light of his life were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren! Kendall lived life to the fullest, was blessed with many good friendships, and enriched the lives of all who came to know him.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 26th, from 9am – 10am and mass immediately following, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St., Barrington.  Kendall will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Elgin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent  to St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
