Kirk David Anderson

June 21, 1953 — December 31, 2022

Davenport Barrington

Kirk David Anderson, 69, of West Dundee, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2022. He was born June 21, 1953 in Chicago.

Kirk is survived by his children, Ian (Jessica) and Laura Anderson; his siblings Robin (Tom) Mahaffey, Christina (David Larew) Anderson and Glen (Suyapa) Anderson; nieces and nephews, Siri (Jacob) Eisen, Tyler and Max Mahaffey, Sandy (Rob) Harmon, and Peter and Matthew Anderson; and great-nieces and nephew, Ezra, Adelise, Zulema, Xiomara, and Alejandro; cousins James Beebe, Jeff Beebe and Andrew Trushinski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Donalda Anderson; his brother, Paul Malcolm Anderson; stepfather, Ted Koerner; cousin Holly Beebe; and second cousin Kaitlyn Beebe.

Kirk attended Countryside School in Barrington Hills and Barrington High School. With fundamentally rooted friendships, his aspirations and gift of wording the courses of life, led him to achievement at Columbia College, in Chicago, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Communications. He shared his skills thereafter, as a Writing Instructor, at Columbia College, with gratitude, and would humbly say he learned a lot from his students. His podium remained vast, reaching local and international audiences. His talent graced visual, network airwaves and radio frequencies via, ABC-TV, NBC-TV, PBS, WBBM, among few, while additionally grounding his local presence, with community organizations and efforts. He fortuitously sustained major impact for educational purposes, with governing boards in academics, throughout. He was an advocate for giving people and their lives a voice, with purpose, to be heard, all around.

Kirk saw the world, not only with his words. He made words dance with his voice.  His welcoming eyes and genuine kindness were attributes, wholeheartedly. Kirk was beyond a fond friend, loyal relative, respectable colleague, and noble man. He was the world sometimes and meant it.

He was an inimitable father. His children remained the center of his universe. They were the luckiest to have had him. He taught them that the world was limitless; everything deserved the time it takes in place; patience is a virtue; and, that imagination could be free, anywhere. The adventure makes life worth living, he believed. That goes without saying.

Kirk enjoyed taking the scenic route convincingly, despite his enamors for fast cars, classics, and great tunes. He took time to create his great stories, morally. As an adventurer and pun master, he enticed our attention, left reason for excitement with anticipation, seeking a lot of laughter. His memories, on paper, with or without words, will never measure the life he left us, as better versions of ourselves.

Kirk was the very best, of all time, especially to those he loved. May his life be considered not once upon his time, but infinitely, at peace. With love, a fond farewell.
