Linda Louise Colcord

Linda Louise Colcord, 77, of Crystal Lake, went to be with the Lord on September 26, 2022. She was born on January 19,1945 in Crystal Lake and lived her whole life in the home that her grandfather built. Linda was a passionate and caring person and her passions reflected into all areas of her life whether she was singing with the First Congregational Church choir, supporting the English Tottenham Hotspurs soccer club or the Chicago Bears, knitting, needleworking, traveling, working as an election judge, conversing with friends or discussing women’s rights.

Linda graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School in 1963 and McHenry County College in 1976. She received a Bachelor’s of Science from St. Mary of the Woods College in 1988. She was very proud of the Bachelor’s degree that she completed through correspondence way before online learning became possible. She had fond memories of her time working downtown Chicago as an accounting clerk and then worked for various local organizations that had a focus on helping others including Don Johnston Inc. in Volo, Home of the Sparrow and the Bethesda Thrift Shop.

She performed with the singing group Sweet Adelines for several years and was a member of the First Congregational Church and Choir. She adored traveling and visited many places including the Caribbean, Ireland and Hungary. Linda loved a good time and made friends wherever she went.

She was preceded in death, recently by her cat Katie, and by her mother Dorothy Colcord, who Linda loyally cared for during many years. She is survived by her brother Chuck; her niece, Lisa; many loving friends and the Marshall family that she considered her own.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 1:30 PM until the funeral service at 3:30 PM at First  Congregational Church, 461 Pierson St, Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Interment will be private.
