MaryAnn (Balk) Barnes

MaryAnn Barnes, 81, of Fox River Grove, IL, died on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Good Shepard Hospital in Barrington.

Mrs. Barnes was born in Chicago, IL on November 10, 1940, the daughter of Walker H. and Jacqueline (Lorengo) Balk. She was a resident of Fox River Grove since 1968, formerly living in Edison Park, IL. She graduated from William Howard Taft High School in Norwood Park, IL and then from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She was employed as a General Studies Teacher prior to her sons being born, after which she became a stay-at-home mom.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her husband Edmond A. Barnes in 2007. Mr. and Mrs. Barnes were married for a total of 43 years, from 1964 until his death.

MaryAnn is survived by two sons, Eric of Fox River Grove and Keith and his wife Leslie (Davis) of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Mel Balk and his wife Judith (Mecum) Balk of Chester, NH.

Services for MaryAnn will be held at the Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176), Crystal Lake, on Friday, May 13th from 4-7pm with a family service beginning at 7pm.
