Masis Sarkisian

June 10, 1962 — June 21, 2022

Davenport Lake Zurich

Our hearts are broken, our spirits are shattered at the sudden passing of Masis Sarkisian.

Beloved by all who crossed his path, Masis was truly one of a kind. The word ‘no’ was not in his vocabulary, neither were the words cannot, never or impossible. As anyone who has ever played Scrabble with Masis knows, he had his own dictionary which included his own words, and challenging him was not an option. In his dictionary were words like kindness, empathy, decency, respect, integrity, and of course, the word yes, along with a plethora of made-up words that you could never challenge him on because he would tell you outright that he followed his own dictionary.

Masis lived by the golden rule of Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You. He never veered away from that message, not even for one iota of a second of his life. He was a man of immense integrity, loyalty and love. There is not a person who came into contact with him that walked away without feeling better for having met him. He touched people with his humility, his humor and most of all, with his iron-clad, unwavering faith and love of God. Masis ran his life using truth as his sword and integrity as his shield. He knew that his name was paramount and did all he could to make sure it was never tarnished.

This loss is immense.

Born in Tehran, Iran in 1962, Masis is preceded in death by his parents, Arthoush & Tamara. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Maria (Koziol), his adored children Alexandra Noel, and Armand Masis, his  dearly loved niece, Lauren Sarkisian, as well as his loving brother Sarge (Kathy) and his adoring mother-in-law, Amalia Koziol. His extended family of uncles, Shimo (Pat), Yadegar (Edna) & Anoosh (Alberta) as well as their many children & grandchildren who spent countless New Year’s Eve celebrations dressed in their PJ’s, enjoying the emcee talents of Masis as he presided over Bozo Buckets, are missing him greatly. He also leaves behind his brother (in-law), Mitchell (Barbara) Wilk, along with Mandy, Adam & Tony & their spouses and children. Countless extended family members and office & business associates have been left with a feeling of loss and emptiness yet too difficult to process.

As Masis radiated a special inner light wherever he went, he would want us to move forward with that light and enjoy every day as if it were our last. Hug your friends and family extra hard and know that this is not the end, just the beginning.

A memorial visitation for Masis will be held from 1pm until the time of service at 5pm on Sunday June 26, 2022 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047.

A Celebration of Masis’ Life is being planned for the near future and details will be forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Agape International Church (https://agapechurch.org/support/).

If you do wish to send flowers, the family has requested all white arrangements. Thank you.
