Peter M. Garite

Peter was born October 5, 1947 in Chicago.  He passed away peacefully August 15, 2019 in Barrington.  For over 35 years Peter lived with his wife and family in Timberlake Estates.  Peter enjoyed being active outdoors, golfing, fishing, and running.  He was an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, Bears, Cubs, Bulls, and Fighting Illini.  He was a proud alumnus of the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Peter enjoyed a long career as a mechanical engineer in the fire protection industry.  He owned and operated Century Sprinkler Systems in Gurnee until his retirement.

Peter is survived by his children, Michaeline (Tim) May, and Peter (Amy) Garite; grandchildren, Aidan, Victoria, and Kira May, and PJ and Flynn Garite; sisters, Lois (Ray) Mular, and Arlene Garite; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Christine, and his parents, Peter and Antoinette Garite.

Visitation will be 3-7pm Sunday, August 18 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich.  Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:15am, Monday August 19, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10am at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 316 W. Mill Street, Wauconda.  Burial in Windridge Memorial Park will follow.
