Peter Tararo

Peter Tararo of Barrington, IL was born September 3, 1933, and passed away September 7, 2021, with his loving family by his side. Pete is survived by his beloved wife Sue; treasured daughters Colleen (Doug) and Jaclyn (Josh), cherished grandchildren Benjamin, Emerson and Kelly; dear sister Theresa Giordano Martinez and many, many loving cousins.

Pete founded and successfully ran Montana Metals Products & Mfg. Co. of Schiller Park, IL for nearly 40 years. Upon selling Montana Metals, and looking for a new adventure, he started a smaller venture, Estes Laser & Mfg. in Schaumburg, IL, before retiring in 2019.

Visitation for Peter will be on September 23, 2021, at St. Anne’s Community Church in Barrington (120 Ela St.) from 9:30-10:30am. Mass to follow at 10:30am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family is asking a donation honoring Pete’s memory is made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The following obituary has been approved by Pete!

Pete was an avid chef in his home kitchen and loved cooking for his family and friends. Presentation was always key. Sunday dinners were always important to him; an open chair was always available to whomever was hungry. He enjoyed spending time with his best friend - his grandson Ben. Those two were known to get into a lot of trouble together. Pete also loved playing and spending time with his two granddaughters Emmy and Kelly always making them laugh. A prolific storyteller, his tales entertained family and friends.

A successful entrepreneur, Pete retired twice only to find boredom in his new-found free time. An immensely creative man, Pete was always searching for the next project to keep himself busy. He loved a good party and spared no expense when it came to life’s celebrations. Pete enjoyed many evenings dining at his favorite haunts with his wife, friends and drink of choice - a dirty martini with blue cheese olives.

Pete will forever be remembered as a kind and generous man to all but to those who least expected it.  An avid Sinatra fan, he took his favorite crooner’s biggest hit to heart, for 88 years, Pete did it his way.
