Phillip James Lageschulte

February 23, 1940 ~ February 15, 2021 (age 80)

Phillip James Lageschulte, age 80, of Barrington, IL passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021.

Phillip Lageschulte in the 1950s was in his young years living in a much different Barrington than we see today. He was the typical Norman Rockwell cartoon image of an outdoor-boy who grew into an outdoor-man. He knew every creek and woods from Otis Road to Pepper Road, including the fields behind the Jewel Tea property. His home still has the fly rods and lures he made as a child that he used in the stream that cuts through the village. His other childhood passion was flying with a flight book starting at age seventeen.

After going to college, he came back home with a degree and the woman with whom he would spend more than fifty years with. Together they raised their four children in the village of Barrington where they would ride their bikes to school, sports, and later to their teenage jobs when needed.

Our father supported his family with his own business, Lageschulte Kitchens, but also was a volunteer for the Barrington Paramedics Department for years. Countless memories his children have of their father leaving during dinner or an early evening backyard baseball game to head out the door for a paramedic call.

When life settled a bit for our father, his retirement allowed him more time to be outside with his hands in the dirt, gardening. The happiness in gardening was nothing in comparison to the pride that came from his new name: Grandpa. Eventually, the number grew to eight grandchildren, and he was able to see one married. He passed away as a very proud and happy husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beth Lageschulte in 2014, married for over fifty years.

He is survived by his four children and their spouses and eight grandchildren. Hans Lageschulte (Ronnie), Phil Lageschulte (Leni), Peggy Trowbridge (Ed), and Susan Nelligan (Terry). Grandchildren are Jackie, Anastasia, Olivia, Emma, Cy, Ben, Mackenzie, and Tyler. Additionally, he is survived by his older brother Jack Lageschulte and younger sister Gretchen Cowling.

A private graveside service for Phillip will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Church of Barrington, 301 E Lincoln Ave, Barrington, IL 60010.
