Regimantas (Reggi) J. Vedegys, 86, of Huntley, IL passed away Friday, March 20, 2020.  He was born in Siauliai, Lithuania, lived for many years in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he met his wife Lucia, and in 1962 settled in the Chicago area.

Reggi is survived by Lucia, his wife of 61 years; brothers-in law, George (Joyce) Paliulionis and Kestas (Rita) Palulonis; a nephew, three nieces, a grand-nephew, and three grand-nieces.

He was a devoted Roman Catholic and attended St. Mary’s Church in Huntley.  He was an active member of Lithuanian social organizations in Buenos Aires and Chicago. Reggi was a retired mechanical engineer and technical representative for Trackmobile, a manufacturer of mobile railcar movers. His job required much travel to represent the company and serve as a technical adviser to customers throughout the world.

Reggi was a life-long supporter republican candidates and a strong believer in a Lithuania free from Soviet oppression. He fulfilled his dream of returning to Lithuania after it gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1990 and greatly enjoyed his annual trips there.

Reggi was an avid sports enthusiast.  His favorite sports included tennis and skiing. But, most of all Reggi loved spending time with family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.

Reggi will be cremated, with an inurnment at a later date.  Due to the COVID -19, no visitation or service will be held at the present time. Relatives and friends will be notified when a memorial service date is scheduled at a future time.
