Robert M. Voitik

Robert M. Voitik was born in Joliet, IL and then moved to Evanston, IL during his childhood. He was one of 5 brothers that attended St. Nicholas grade school and then St. George High School. He attended and graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston as a mechanical engineer; thereafter, he was licensed as a Professional Engineer. He worked for Cartriseal (Rexnord), Allis Chalmers, Falex Corporation. He started his own engineering design and consultation business called Innovatex.

World-renowned as an expert in the science of Tribology. Known through his publications with Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM), and the International Standards Organization (ISO). He has more than a few notable patents. His papers, standards, and testing machines are still in use today by industry to meet SAE, ASTM, and ISO standards. Robert was also a member of the Society of Tribiologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE).

Robert was a Sunday golfer and avid bridge player. He was very handy and loved home improvement projects. He taught religious education, hosted several foster children and a German AFS student.

Robert, with his wife Vera, raised 5 children in a loving, caring way - helping each one to grow and mature and live a giving life as a Christian.  Vera was his true love and soul-mate and were married for over 62 years. They were rarely seen without each other. Robert is also survived by his children, Katherine (William) Kauffmann, Linda (John) Harbaugh, Robert (Sarah) Voitik, David (Lucy) Voitik, and Diane Barber; and all his wonderful grandchildren and beautiful great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
