Davenport Crystal Lake

Ruth Ida Frisch (nee Jones), age 97, of Cary, IL, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2023.

Ruth was born in Davenport, IA on September 9, 1925, to John and Margaret (Lange) Jones. After high school graduation, she worked as a secretary/stenographer and belonged to a business sorority in Davenport until she met the love of her life, Bob. They eloped and were married on February 13, 1946, in Denver, CO with best friends, Marilyn and Warren Petersen, as their witnesses. Shortly after, they moved to Bob’s hometown of Cary, IL where they raised two children, Dennis and Susan. After the children had grown up, Ruth returned to work with her secretarial skills, first at The Clarion (the Cary newspaper at the time) and then at the Sun Electric in Crystal Lake, where she remained for a number of years.

Ruth had many hobbies throughout her life, including gardening, baking, bowling, sewing, crocheting afghans, and traveling. She and her family had many wonderful vacations in their RV. As a senior, she enjoyed taking part in activities with the local seniorsclubs. In the summer, she loved treasure hunting at local garage sales. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family and beloved dogs, Jingles and Gracie.

Preceding Ruth in death were her husband, Robert R. Frisch; her parents, John and Margaret Jones’ her brother. Jack Jones; many in-laws; and her dear friend, Desi Johnson.

Ruth is survived by her son, Dennis Frisch; daughter, Susan (David) Alms, grandchildren, Jessica (Chris Bickler) Alms, Christopher (Liz) Alms, and Natalie (Stephanie) Alms; great-grandchildren, Ruthie, Franklin, Sinclair, Penelope, and Halstead; sister-in-law, Lee Frisch; as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Per Ruth’s wishes, the interment will be private. There is no service planned at this time. If anyone would like to make a donation in her memory, the family asks that you consider Vitas Healthcare (hospice) or any of the dementia organizations that work to find a cure.
