Ruth Newman Privratsky

Ruth Newman Privratsky, 96, of Niles, IL went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 5, 2021, while in Hospice at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL.

She was born on November 16, 1924 in Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of J. Clifford and Goldie (Day) Antram. She married Edward Rudolph Privratsky on February 3, 1945 and was a devoted wife of 61 years.

An avid golfer, she still putted like a pro at the young age of 96. She enjoyed walking, loved to read and garden, solving Sudoku, playing cards, games, and bowling. She used her artsy creative skills to draw, paint ceramics, sew and needlepoint. She was a great cook; always experimenting and making new things. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. John Brebeuf Church.

She was a loving and caring Mother and is survived by her 6 children, Eileen Wilson, Jeanne (Bill) Palmer, Mary Lynn (Tom) Schertzing, Jim (Terry) Privratsky, Dr. Bruce (Marisa) Privatsky, Karen (Gary) Boege, and proud grandmother to 15 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren with one more on the way. She was one of 8 children and still surviving are 2 sisters, Mary Virginia Ferns, Joanne Roy, and 1 brother, Richard (Pat) Antram and brother-in-law, Bill Froeschle.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward, her parents, J. Clifford and Goldie Antram, sisters, Jeanne Antram and Bernice Froeschle and brothers, Jack Antram and Fr. James Cormac, son-in-law, Rick Wilson, grandchildren, Erik Paver and Jack Privatsky.

Thank you to all the nurses and doctors who were involved in her care and a special thank you and appreciation to her ER doctor, Dr. Tamer Noureldin, MD for his care and empathy. We will never forget her awesome caregivers, Shula, Mary B., Mary C. and Jose. Thank you for your exceptional care, compassion and kindness.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8305 N Harlem Ave. in Niles at 11 AM on Friday, August 6, 2021 with a “Celebration of Life” following at Fairway Banquet located at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course, 6700 W. Howard St. in Niles.
