Shirley Florence Wajrowski, 90, of Crystal Lake passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022. She was born in McHenry on October 9, 1931 to Cecil and Margaret (Olsen) Rothermel.
Shirley married Harold “Hal” Wajrowski on November 22, 1952.
In 1971, Shirley was the original secretary of Canterbury School, Crystal Lake. She retired after 25 years.
She had a passion for painting and was a member of the Northland Area Art League and the Lake Region Watercolor Guild.
Shirley enjoyed traveling and biking, volunteering at her church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and being with her family and friends. Shirley also took pleasure in reading and was involved in book clubs and attending the theatre.
Survivors include her children, Pam McMahon of Crystal Lake, Mark (Roberta) of Crystal Lake, and Jim of LaSalle; grandchildren, Jacob (Pam) Bishop, Margaret (Andy) Skibley, Amanda (Joe) Stuber, Adam Wajrowski, Katherine (Mario) Tirabassi, Amy Liggett, Sara (William) Maass, Tim (Matt Lindgren) McMahon, Nina, Luke, Lisa, and Joe Wajrowski, and Brandon (Karisa) Duffin; great grandchildren, Conner Liggett, Ben and Jack Miller, Liam and Teddy Maass, Ava and Stella Skibley, Warren, Nate and Emmett Stuber, Scarlett, Cecilia Tirabassi, Jeb and TJ Bishop, and Kinsley and Violet Duffin.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Hal; brother, Cecil Rothermel; daughter, Shari Bishop; son, David; daughter-in-law, Julie Wajrowski; and son-in-law, John McMahon.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 23, from 10:30am until the time of Mass at 12:00pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
