Sophia Juliana Skinger, age 16, of Barrington, IL passed away on Wednesday September 30, 2020
Sophie is our baby girl. As a child she was always fun-loving, compassionate and full of joy. She was the glue of our family and our world revolved around her.
Sophie was a goofball, she loved to make faces in her pictures, crack jokes, and she was never afraid to be her authentic self. She inspired her same tenacity and confidence in everyone she met.
She was a loyal friend who put the needs of her loved ones before her own. Altruism guided all of Sophie’s life decisions. She was able to see the light in every person and she found no use harboring resentment towards anyone.
When Sophie was younger, she enjoyed playing soccer, baking, singing, and dancing. As Sophie grew, her love and passion shifted to music, astrology, and makeup. Sophie openly shared her passion with her family and friends, and everyone who knows Sophie also has a song that reminds them of her.
Sophie was an exceptional human being and a model for how we should all be living. While Sophie’s time with us was brief, she had a mind beyond her age, and she lived a more impactful and fulfilling sixteen years than most people do in their entire life.
Survived by her loving parents, Scott and Amy Skinger; her brothers Ben and Brady Skinger; Grandparents Nancy White and Joe & Cathy Chapetta.
Preceded in death by her grandfather Peter Skinger.
A visitation for Sophie will be from 4pm-8pm on October 14, 2020 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich, IL 60047. A burial will be held privately.
Two days before Sophie’s accident we were in Oregon moving her brother Ben into his new apartment. Sophie bought breakfast from McDonalds for a homeless couple that she came across that morning. This gesture is what Sophie was all about and why we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E187251&id=51
