July 24, 1943 ~ April 20, 2021 (age 77)

Obituary

Stephen Wayne Bright, of Crystal Lake, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the age of 77.

He was born July 24, 1943 in Chicago, the son of Howard and Marcia Bright.

Steve graduated from Automation Institute and was a proud member of Teamsters.  On June 19, 1965 he married the love of his life at St. Anne’s in Barrington, IL.  They were blessed to have enjoyed 55 years of marriage.  Steve was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church for 50 years.  There he served as a lector and usher where he made everyone feel welcome with his contagious smile.  He was a member of The Knights of Columbus Council 3880 where he served as membership chairman. He was proud to have organized Operation Support our Troops and initiated involvement with PADS.

Steve enjoyed model airplane club and fishing where he was one of the original members of the Crystal Lake Anglers as well as past President.  He was an avid reader and total handyman who could fix or repair anything.  He was known to make the best Brandy ice.  Never short on words, he could make a friend anywhere.  He spent winters in Sun City West, AZ, his happy place. He often shot in the desert with friends and drove his golf cart. His greatest joy above all was his children and being Papa to his grandchildren.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Judie; children, Todd (Lori) Bright, Jodie (Matt) Meisner and Trisha (Ryan) Carey; and his grandchildren, Kyle, Sydney and Morgan Bright, Luke, Noah and Tess Meisner, and Mason and Chase Carey.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
