Tirlochan K. Rikhiraj

August 15, 1945 — October 31, 2019

Davenport Lake Zurich

The matriarch of our family, Tirlochan Kaur Rikhiraj, passed (Akal Chalana) on Thursday October 31, 2019. She had the amazing fortune to live in four countries during her life. She was born and raised in Burma until her teen years. Her family then moved to Punjab, India. There she was married to Sadhu S. Rikhiraj. In the early 1970’s she left India to join her husband in Canada where he was continuing his engineering studies. After more than 10 years in Canada the family once again moved to finally settle in the Chicagoland area.

She was a very strong and faithful person. She put family first and worked tirelessly throughout her life. Her generosity was well known. Many also admired her unmatched sense of timeless style. No matter how hard life was she never gave up. Her strong faith in the Creator gave her limitless strength. Ultimately, her long standing battle with Parkinson’s disease ended her life this past Thursday. It is fitting that it fell on Halloween. Halloween was her most favorite cultural holiday and it brought her immense joy to celebrate with the children in the neighborhood.

Tirlochan is survived by her husband Sadhu Singh Rikhiraj; daughters, Hardeep Singh (Narinder), Harvind Singh and Inder Rikhiraj; her son Inderjit Singh Mukker (Kushdeep) and seven grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday November 3, 2019 from 2 PM until 4 PM at Davenport Funeral Home 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich IL. Prayer Services will be held immediately following at the Sikh Religious Society, 1280 Winnetka Street, Palatine IL.
