Davenport Crystal Lake

William (Bill) Koza, 56, of Crystal Lake, IL, died suddenly due to complications of Covid19 on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021 in Winfield, IL.

Bill was born April 30, 1964 in Chicago, IL to the late Robert Koza (stepmother Donna) and Connie (Gucwa) Koza.

Bill was the beloved and cherished husband of Amy (McCollum) Koza of 28 years. Bill and Amy knew as soon as they met in 1990, that they were each other’s person.

Bill was the devoted and loving father to Derek and Abby. He was incredibly proud of the young adults they had become and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them.

Bill was the loving brother to Barbara (Mark) Hester, Robert (Marla) Koza, Jim (Diana) Koza, Deborah (David) Besenhofer and brother in laws John (Debi) McCollum and Jeff (Wendy) McCollum. Bill was also the cherished son in law to the late Warner McCollum and Joan McCollum. Bill is also survived by many loved nephews and nieces.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Robert Koza and father-in-law, Warner “Mac” McCollum.

Bill grew up in Arlington Heights, IL and graduated from Buffalo Grove High School (1982).  Bill went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at DePaul University.  For the past year, Bill was Director of Operations, at Carow Packaging in Crystal Lake. Bill thoroughly enjoyed the challenges that came with his job and working with a team that was the “Carow family”.

Bill was blessed to have many friends, many of whom he knew his entire life, that he considered family.  He obsessed on all things great and small.  Which often lead to many debates with his family and friends.

Bill enjoyed reading, especially business and self-improvement books.  Bill was also a wine and exercise enthusiast.  Bill worked hard making the family’s backyard into a summer haven. Enjoying many days in their pool, relaxing in the evenings on the patio with music, a glass of wine and often ending in a slow dance with Amy.

Due to Covid, the family is planning a celebration of Bill’s life at later time.  The family would like to thank everyone who has reached out to them during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with medical expenses at GoFundMe.com (search Bill Koza).
